The well-respected Drakensberg Boys' Choir School marked its 40th anniversary last weekend with a celebratory concert.
Situated in the small town of Winterton, near the Drakensberg mountain range in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, the school was founded in 1967 and is believed to be the only educational establishment of its kind in Africa.
The concert took place on Wednesday June 27th in the school's 600-seat auditorium, with the choirboys dressed in matching outfits. They sang an eclectic mix of numbers featuring classical pieces as well as jazz, pop and rock, the Australian reports.
A performance of traditional African folk music provided the finale for the evening, with the choirboys dressed in vests known as madiba. The boys also performed a Gumboot Dance, which originated in South African goldmines.
They also evoked their 'night sounds', where they mimic sounds from the African bush such as rainfall and bullfrogs.
The choir performs all over the world, and has performed in various distinguished settings including Vatican City.
