A festival that will celebrate the work of southern African artists is due to take place in KwaZulu-Natal later this month.
The inaugural Heritage Arts Festival will begin on Friday, September 7th at the Kizo Art Gallery.
Featured artists include Esther Mahlangu, Andrew Verster and Velapi Mzimba. In addition, there will be plenty of other arts, crafts and music for visitors to enjoy, the Daily News reports.
Speaking at the official launch of the festival last Thursday (August 30th), Craig Mark, the owner of the gallery, said: "After years of hard work and lots of meetings, I am happy to say that art in KZN is going through some exciting changes."
Fashion designer Nadia Meer noted that development is very important in the creation of a high-profile arts festival.
She said: "Heritage is about our history, it's about our roots and we've been deprived of knowledge on that. I'm actually going to be taking the artists through to schools, because that's where the foundation for interest in art lies."
