A travel expert has claimed that travellers are splashing out on luxury flights to Mauritius this Christmas to ensure the holiday is a trip to remember.
Anna Knowles of airline Virgin Atlantic says that flights to the exotic African holiday hotspot are "filled with honeymooners who are willing to splash out on the luxury experience to mark their special occasion".
Mauritius has long been popular with newly weds and is also attracting more and more couples who wish to marry on a beach in a sun soaked nation.
Last month, figures revealed that the number of tourists heading to the Indian Ocean island had risen to more than 800,000 in 11 months up from 691,967 over the same period in 2006.
The government predicts that the island's stunning beaches, hot weather and adventure activities such as scuba diving will help to attract two million visitors a year by 2015.
