Visitors are being invited to head to Namibia in 2008 to join in an annual hike across Africa's second largest gorge.
From May 1st to August 31st, walking enthusiasts can challenge themselves to the journey of a lifetime at the country's famous Fish River Canyon.
The hike lasts from four to six days and a medical certificate of fitness will need to be sent to Namibia's Ministry of Tourism 40 days before you take up the challenge.
In all, 86kms are covered in the blazing heat but several hot mineral springs can provide some relief for tired hikers.
Those who are partial to a more relaxing break are still welcome to head to the area and admire the stunning scenery which was created by glaciers more than one million years ago.
Families can take advantage of the spa town of Ai Ais where they can enjoy cheap, comfortable accommodation in a beautiful African setting.
