So-called two-centre destinations offering activities such as a safari in South Africa followed by a more relaxing excursion are becoming increasingly popular among honeymooners, it has been claimed.
According to a spokeswoman for hitched.co.uk, which offers a free support service to engaged couples, many airlines offer stop-over points that enable travellers to visit two places within one flight.
This allows more flexibility in people's travel decisions and enables holidaymakers to vary their experiences.
"It seems as if two-centre destinations are still popular this year, such as going on a South African safari for a couple of days and then going to a beach destination break," said Francesca Moore from hitched.co.uk.
While there is still a large audience for relaxing beach holidays, an increasing number of people are being more adventurous in their holiday choices, Ms Moore claimed.
She attributed this partly to the exposure that many new destinations are benefiting from.
"With advertising, new destinations are becoming more popular all the time, people are becoming a bit more open-minded," Ms Moore said.
"Some couples like to do the traditional style of honeymoon, relax on a deserted beach for two weeks, whereas others opt for the more adventurous type of trip."
