The ever-increasing number of people considering the prospect of a holiday to Zambia has led to positive predictions for the future of the industry.
Experts on the sector have said that rising investment in Zambia is making substantial growth a real possibility, the Times of Zambia reports.
Felix Mulenga, vice-president of the Hotels and Catering Association of Zambia, said: "The tourism sector has the potential to participate in all economic activities at the same scale with mining, manufacturing and agriculture.
"There is so much money to be made through this sector, whether you look at it in terms of food and beverages or accommodation services."
Between 2000 and 2006, some 427 billion kwacha (£57.3 million) was reportedly invested in Zambian tourism, which largely went towards new hotels and lodges across the country.
Deputy tourism minister Todd Chilembo said: "Our goal is to make Zambia an attractive tourist destination; we reckon the sector has massive potential to create jobs and contribute to the reduction of poverty levels in the country."
One of the major factors of the industry is the popularity of holidays to Victoria Falls, the waterfall located between Zambia and Zimbabwe.
