People on Namibia safari holidays will soon be able to learn more about the country's fascinating Namib desert when a training and research centre opens its doors.
The Gobabeb centre will welcome visitors on June 7th, New Era reports.
This year's open day will focus on the last century of the Namib desert and look forward to the next century in the Namib-Naukluft park.
Visitors will be able to go on tours of the centre, take guided nature walks and attend talks and presentations exploring Gobabeb's activities.
A statement from the centre read: "If you are curious about what we do deep in the Namib desert at Gobabeb, then come and join us for a day of information and enjoyment.
"In this spectacular setting you will learn about what Gobabeb does, the unique desert plants and animals of this area, as well as how all Namibians can use this information."
The Namib desert occupies an area of around 50,000 square kilometres and stretches about 1,600 kilometres along the Atlantic coast of Namibia.
