People on South Africa holidays have been enjoying a prestigious fishing event in Port Elizabeth over the past couple of days.
The four-day Tuna Classic competition began on May 6th and will crown its winner tomorrow (May 9th).
Participants enjoyed perfect weather on the first day of the contest and the largest catch was a 26kg yellow-fin tuna.
An unexpected highlight of the opening day of the competition was a 100kg black marlin, which came as a surprise to anglers who had their eyes peeled for the elusive tuna.
With a cold front approaching on the second day of the event, the race was on to beat the 26kg precedent, the South African Broadcasting Corporation reports.
The Tuna Classic enforces environmentally friendly rules with each boat allowed to bring only three fish to the daily weigh-in and rewards the top catches with prizes worth more than 400,000 rand (£26,800).
Port Elizabeth is a popular destination for many people on South Africa holidays, located at the end of the picturesque Garden Route in the Eastern Cape.
