Nine countries have unveiled a single brand that will be promoted in order to encourage people to take holidays to southern Africa.
The 2010 Transfrontier Conservation Areas brand was unveiled at the Tourism Indaba 2008 in Durban, reports BuaNews.
It encompasses the major holiday destinations in southern Africa, including South Africa, Botswana, Mozambique, Namibia and Zambia.
Under the new initiative, these countries will work together to market their offerings to tourists under a motto of 'boundless southern Africa'.
Rejoice Mabudafhasi, South Africa's deputy minister of environmental affairs and tourism, said the countries would be united through their passion for nature, culture and community.
She added: "The regional identity and character that defines this single brand most completely is simply the reverence for the deep authentic character of our cultural and natural heritage, and for its defining role in our lives as communities."
One of the main motivations for the development of the brand is the 2010 Fifa World Cup, which is set to attract tens of thousands of people on holidays to southern Africa.
