Holidaymakers planning Kruger park safaris will be happy to hear that SanParks, the company that operates the reserve, recently received a donation to help its counter-poaching operations.
The Mazda Wildlife Fund showed its support for the parks of South Africa by making the contribution at the annual Sunset Serenade event, which was held at Kruger park between June 18th and 22nd.
This occasion is held to highlight the important work of the honorary rangers working for SanParks' counter-poaching and ranger support services unit.
A cheque for 100,000 rand (£6,400) was presented to the honorary rangers by the Mazda Wildlife Fund, a donation which doubled the contribution provided in 2007.
Brendan Lyne, general manager of Mazda, said: "Both the Mazda Wildlife Fund and the Honorary Rangers are committed to supporting the conservation of wildlife in South Africa.
"Our wildlife is part of our heritage and it is everyone's responsibility to do their part in protecting this heritage."
The Honorary Rangers organisation is a volunteer programme that aims to combat poaching and protect the endangered species that so many people on Kruger park safaris enjoy seeing.
