The South African Police Service has declared its confidence that it is ready for the influx of people on holidays and honeymoons in South Africa for the 2010 World Cup.
Plans were revealed this week giving details of strategies to secure the country's skies, highways, stadiums, streets and accommodation venues, Bua News reports.
The initiatives are part of government investment of around 665 million rand (£43.2 million) in state-of-the-art equipment to be used by the police force and other authorities.
Another 640 million rand will reportedly be spent on the deployment of more than 41,000 extra police officers.
Deputy national police commissioner Andre Prius said: "I am happy to announce that our comprehensive security plan for the Fifa World Cup was submitted and it is in Zurich and I think Fifa will be satisfied with the security concept in general."
Mr Prius also revealed that police had already begun event-specific training and exercises to ensure that people on holidays and honeymoons in South Africa during the World Cup are protected.
