Sports fans thinking of booking a British Lions package may be interested to know that Cape Town is set to host the Gun Run on October 12th.
Participants in the half marathon will follow a 21.1 kilometre course through the centre of the city, which begins and ends at Hamiltons Rugby Club in Green Point, reports WhatsOnWhen.com.
First run in 1993, the route passes the Victoria and Albert Waterfront and winds its way through the central business and along the Sea Point promenade.
Those who are not as confident about their ability to run the full race will be able to take part in the easier ten kilometre and five kilometre races which will follow a similar route.
Hamiltons is the oldest rugby club in South Africa and was founded in 1875, according to the Cape Buccaneers website.
It features three floodlit fields along with a two-storey clubhouse with two bars, function rooms and a lounge.
The club is situated a short distance from the sea and the Cape Town Waterfront.
