Mauritius joined the official hospitality program to
provide accommodation to World Cup fans next year. Mauritius is joining other
neighbouring countries to promote and develop tourism in the whole region. In
addition to the economic payback for the region Danny Jordaan the chief
executive of the 2010 Local Organising Committee highlights the benefits of this
program “to allow fans to fully explore the unique diversity of the southern
African region”. This program anticipates that World Cup fans will plan their
vacation to include further travel in the region before or after the main event
making Mauritius holidays a logical stopover for visitors from Europe and
abroad.
The Indian Ocean island of Mauritius is a top spot for visitors to the region.
Mauritius' vice prime minister, Xavier Luc Duval describes the Mauritius holiday
experience for World Cup fans: "the excellent quality of our accommodation, our
picturesque environment and wonderful beaches, together with the warm and
inviting hospitality of the Mauritian people, will give an added experience to
the fans,"
