The Springboks look set for a Tri-Nations victory after
securing a second win on Saturday. South Africa supporters and fans of South
Africa rugby holidays are eagerly awaiting the third match set for next
Saturday.
The first success was achieved on Saturday 25 July 2009 with the Springboks
beating the All Blacks 28-19 in Bloemfontein. South African captain John Smit
commended his team for the victory that also boosted South Africa to first
position in the International Rugby Board World Rankings. This edged New Zealand
out of the top spot despite the Kiwis beating the Australians in the first
Tri-Nations test.
Continuing a winning streak on Saturday 1 August 2009 the Springboks scored 31
points to the All Blacks’ 19 in Durban with Smit captaining the South African
team for a world record 60th time on home ground. The second successive
Springbok victory further assured South Africa the position of the top ranking
team. New Zealand coach Graham Henry complimented South African’s performance as
“outstanding”.
The Springboks will compete in Cape Town against the Wallabies on Saturday 8
July 2009. A win over the Australian team in the South African’s third match of
the tournament would assure the Springboks the overall title of the Tri-Nations
competition.
