Day 1
You will be met at Johannesburg Airport and transferred to your hotel, where you can check in and relax under warm blue South African skies.
 
Time permitting, you can book an optional Johannesburg City tour in the afternoon.
Day 2
This morning we depart for Mpumalanga - "the place where the sun rises" - and travel eastwards through Witbank, before dropping several hundred feet into the subtropical Lowveld.
 
We travel along the beautiful Panorama Route to Graskop and through the green Blyde River Canyon, where you can enjoy spectacular views from God's Window and visit Bourkes Luck Potholes. In the late afternoon we check into our hotel in Hazyview and enjoy an included dinner.
Day 3
Today we have an early start, as we enter the world famous Kruger National Park for a full day of game viewing in our closed vehicle in this vast 2-million hectare game sanctuary the size of Wales.
 
The Kruger National Park offers magnificent game viewing opportunities and the highest concentration of lion in the whole of Africa. With nearly 150 different species of mammals and over 100 species of reptiles, you can hope to see cheetah, giraffe, hippo, kudu, crocodiles, sable antelope, waterbuck, warthogs, baboons, wild dogs and many other interesting animals as well as the Big Five - Lion, Elephant, Buffalo, Leopard and Rhino. With over 500 different bird species including eagles, kingfishers, vultures and storks, outstanding bird watching is also guaranteed. We spend the whole day in the park and return to our hotel in the late afternoon.
Day 4
This morning we travel south through Malelane into the small mountain Kingdom of Swaziland.
 
We visit the Swaziland National Museum, before checking into our hotel in beautiful surroundings.
Day 5
This morning we journey through Swaziland, stopping en route to bargain for souvenirs at the roadside markets. We continue into Zululand where ancient traditions and modern cultures have combined to form a vibrant society.
 
In the afternoon, we check into our hotel in Hluhluwe, with the option of taking an open-top game drive into Hluhluwe Game Reserve that saved the rhino from extinction (own account).
Day 6
This morning you may lie in and relax at your hotel. With over 500 different bird species in the region, bird watching is outstanding. Alternatively you can take an optional boat ride on the St Lucia Isimangaliso Wetland estuary where you may see pelicans, fish eagles, hippos and crocodiles (own account).
  
In the late morning continue through the sugar cane plantations of the Indian Ocean seaboard to the bustling city of Durban. We visit the Botanical Gardens and enjoy a city tour, before checking in to our hotel and enjoying an included dinner.
Day 7
Leaving Durban, today we travel inland to the majestic Drakensberg Mountains.
 
This route is very scenic, as we travel through the Natal Midlands. We stop at Howick Falls and continue along the Midlands Meander Route, arriving at our hotel in the mid afternoon. Balance of afternoon at leisure to soak up your magnificent mountain surroundings.
Day 8
At leisure to enjoy relaxing, walking or horse riding in the magnificent Drakensberg Mountains.
 
An optional 4x4 excursion up the steep Sani Pass is also available (own account). Sani Pass is the highest mountain pass in Southern Africa with spectacular views. You will cross the border into the small kingdom of Lesotho (passport required) and visit a Sotho tribal village where you can interact with the locals, before enjoying an included lunch at the highest pub in Africa. Light jacket recommended.
Day 9
Today we leave the Drakensberg Mountains and travel through the Transkei to East London.
 
On the way we stop at Umtata to see the area where Nelson Mandela was born and grew up. After visiting the museum dedicated to the life and achievements of this incredible man, we continue southwards with late afternoon arrival in East London, the only river port in South Africa.
Day 10
After a short orientation tour of East London, we continue through settler country and Port Alfred to Grahamstown. We visit the 1820 Settler Memorial before continuing to Port Elizabeth.
 
Balance of afternoon at leisure to enjoy the magnificent beaches of Port Elizabeth.
Day 11
Today we travel 3-hours from Port Elizabeth to Knysna on the scenic Garden Route.
 
We visit the Big Tree in the Tsitsikamma Forest and take a short walk to the scenic Storms River Mouth to enjoy the scenery from the suspension bridge, where photographic opportunities abound.  
 
We arrive in the oyster capital of Knysna in the late afternoon and check into our hotel in this area of great natural beauty.
Day 12
On today's tour, enjoy the stunning views from the Outeniqua Pass as we travel to Oudtshoorn, the capital of the Little Karoo. Here we visit the world famous Cango Caves and enjoy a guided tour of its ancient stalagmites and stalactites.
 
We continue to an Ostrich Ranch where we learn some fun facts about these strange flightless birds and their magnificent plumage, before the day concludes with the scenic drive back to your hotel.
Day 13
A full day on the road today, as we complete our journey to Cape Town.
 
We stop at Mossel Bay, where we visit the famous Post Office Tree and the Diaz & Marime Museum, and travel through the historic town of Swellendam and Worcester. We drive through the Hugenot Tunnel and arrive in Cape Town in the late afternoon, within sight of Table Mountain.
 
Day 14
At leisure to explore the beautiful city of Cape Town independently.
 
Choose one of the many optional activities such as a full day Cape Point tour - including Cape of Good Hope, Boulders Beach Penguins & Kirstenbosch Gardens, a tour of the Stellenbosch Winelands, a visit to Table Mountain or Robben Island, the infamous prison home of Nelson Mandela (advance booking essential in season).
 
Alternatively explore the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront or simply relax on golden Camps Bay beach – the choice is yours!
Day 15
Transfer to Cape Town Airport for your flight home.
