Day 1
You will be met at Johannesburg Airport and transferred to your hotel.

Time permitting, you can book an optional Johannesburg City tour in the afternoon.

Days 3 To 4
This morning after breakfast we travel to Mpumalanga - "the place where the sun rises" - and travel eastwards through Witbank, Belfast and Lydenberg and across the Long Tom Pass before dropping several hundred of feet into the subtropical Lowveld.
 
We pass through the small town of Pilgrims Rest where alluvial gold deposits were discovered, before checking into our hotel in Ohrigstadt.

Days 5 To 6
This morning we explore the breathtaking Panorama Route - including Bourke’s Luck Potholes, God's Window, Three Rondawels and the green Blyde River Canyon.
 
We also stop at the old gold mining village of Pilgrims Rest, before continuing to Graskop and our hotel near Hazyview, arriving in the late afternoon.
Days 7 To 8
Rise at dawn to take advantage of the best game viewing conditions of the day, as we enjoy a thrilling safari into the Kruger National Park in our closed vehicle.
 
We explore the vast Kruger plains, which spans over two million hectares and offers magnificent game viewing opportunities and the highest concentration of lion in the whole of Africa. We hope to see several of the Big 5 today - Lion, Elephant, Buffalo, Leopard and Rhino - as well as many other interesting species.
  
With nearly 150 different species of mammals and over 100 species of reptiles in the Kruger National Park, we can hope to see cheetah, giraffe, hippo, kudu, crocodiles, sable antelope, waterbuck, warthogs, baboons, wild dogs and many other interesting animals. With over 500 different bird species including eagles, kingfishers, vultures and storks, outstanding bird watching is also guaranteed!
  
After a full day of game viewing, return to our hotel and enjoy the balmy evening and pristine stars of the Milky Way as you have never seen them before – as well as the spectacular Southern Cross.

Day 9
This morning we travel from Hazyview through Malelane into the mountainous Kingdom of Swaziland.
 
We travel through beautiful scenery to Mbabane and visit the Ngwenya Glass Factory, before re-entering South Africa near Mkuze. We continue to our hotel in Zululand, arriving in the late afternoon.
Day 10
This morning we travel from Hazyview through Malelane and into the mountain Kingdom of Swaziland.
 
We travel through beautiful Swazi scenery and through Hlane Royal Game Park, before leaving Swaziland and re-entering South Africa. We continue to our lodge in Zululand, arriving in the late afternoon.
Day 11
Early morning at leisure, before we travel through the sugar cane plantations of the Indian Ocean seaboard, with late afternoon arrival at your hotel in Durban - renowned for its wonderful Indian Ocean beaches and reliably warm weather all year round.
 
Check into your hotel after a short orientation tour of this holiday city.

Day 12
This morning enjoy a game drive in our closed vehicle into Hluhluwe Game Reserve, which saved the rhino from extinction.
 
Balance of morning at leisure in St Lucia, before we travel through the sugar cane plantations of the KwaZulu Natal coast, with late afternoon arrival at your hotel in Durban - renowned for its wonderful Indian Ocean beaches and reliably warm weather all year round.
 
Enjoy a short orientation tour of the city, before checking into your hotel in the late afternoon.

Day 13
Leaving the coast, today we travel inland to the majestic Drakensberg Mountains.
 
This route is very scenic, as we travel through the Natal Midlands and visit the Himeville Museum, arriving at our hotel in the mid afternoon. Balance of afternoon at leisure to soak up your magnificent mountain surroundings.
Day 14
This morning we depart from Durban and travel along the South Coast to Kokstad and into the Transkei, the rural heartland of the Xhosa nation.
 
Travelling thorugh landscapes of rolling hills, tea plantations and deep gorges filled with lush vegetation and waterfalls, we continue to our beachfront hotel on the spectacular Wild Coast.
Day 15
At leisure to enjoy relaxing, walking or horse riding in the magnificent Drakensberg Mountains.
 
Optional 4x4 excursion up the steep Sani Pass - the highest in Southern Africa with spectacular views. Cross the border into the small kingdom of Lesotho (passport required) and visit a Sotho tribal village where you can interact with the locals, before enjoying an included lunch at the highest pub in Africa. Light jacket recommended.
Day 16
Relax and enjoy the unspoilt beaches and beauty of the aptly-named Wild Coast of the undiscovered Transkei.
 
This magnificent stretch of coastline, extending from Durban to Port Elizabeth, is one of South Africa’s best kept secrets – offering a wild and dramatic coastline, with pristine beaches, spectacular scenery and wonderful holiday weather. Walking opportunities abound along the coastal cliffs, along the beaches and in the forests. Also outstanding bird watching, fishing and quad biking.
Day 17
Today discover the unspoilt beauty of the Transkei Wild Coast, birth place of Nelson Mandela and the rural heartland of the Xhosa nation.
 
We travel southwards to Umtata then travel towards the coast. In the mid afternoon we arrive at our Wild Coast hotel, which offers incredible views of this spectacular coastline.
Day 18
Today we travel through the Eastern Cape stopping at Qunu, the village where Nelson Mandela was born.
 
We continue south along the coastal road to the small town of Port Alfred and check into our hotel situated on the Kowi River.
Day 19
Today we travel through the Eastern Cape, passing through Umtata where we visit the Mandela Museum on our way to East London, the only river port in South Africa.
 
We continue through settler country to Grahamstown, well known for its schools and churches, before checking into our hotel in the coastal city of Port Elizabeth.
 
Relax in this warm and friendly holiday city, with its many magnificent beaches.
Day 20
Weather permitting, this morning enjoy a cruise on the Kowie River before we travel to the university town of Grahamstown, famous for its many schools and churches and host to South Africa’s annual English Language & Arts Festival held each July. Here you can learn more about the history of the 1820 Settlers sent out from Britain to colonise this area and the ensuing conflict with the local Xhosa tribes that lead to the early Frontier Wars.
 
We continue along the beautiful Garden Route, travelling through the Tsitsikamma Forest and across the scenic Storms River Bridge, where photographic opportunities abound. Check into your hotel near Plettenberg Bay, in this area of great natural beauty.
Day 21
Today we travel 3-hours from Port Elizabeth to the beautiful Garden Route.

Day 22
This morning enjoy the scenic drive through the oyster capital of Knysna, Wilderness and Dolphin Point to George, continuing over the spectacular Outeniqua Pass to Oudtshoorn.
 
Here we visit a local Ostrich Farm to see these strange flightless birds in their natural surroundings, and enjoy a guided tour of the famous Cango Caves, before checking into our hotel.
Day 23
Today is free to explore the holiday town of Plettenberg and its endless beaches.

Day 24
Today we enjoy more of the dramatic and contrasting beauty of South Africa on our scenic drive along spectacular Route 62, travelling through the arid Little Karoo and Barrydale to the beautiful Cape Winelands.
  
We visit a distillery in Robertson, with brandy and chocolate tasting, before continuing to Stellenbosch in the late afternoon. Check into your hotel, relax under giant oak trees and savour the food and wine of this famous region.
Day 25

This morning enjoy a walking tour of the historic university town of Stellenbosch with its many street markets, craft shops and museums. Afterwards we visit the Taalmonument ("language monument") in Paarl and a wine estate, with the optional opportunity to enjoy some wine tasting.
 
We continue to the beautiful city of Cape Town and check into our hotel in the shadow of Table Mountain.
Day 27
This morning we leave the Little Karoo and travel through the towns of Calitzdorp and Barrydale, where the true diversity of landscape is highlighted through the ever-changing semi desert scenery. We traverse the famous Route 62, passing through the small towns of Montagu, Robertson and Worcester.
 
Enjoy your first glimpse of Table Mountain from the top of Du Toit’s Kloof Pass and check into your hotel in Cape Town.
Day 28
At leisure to explore the beautiful city of Cape Town.
 
Choose one of the many optional local activities such as a full day visit to Cape Point, take the ferry to Robben Island, the infamous prison home of Nelson Mandela (advance booking essential in season); explore the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront or simply relax on golden Camps Bay beach – the choice is yours!
Day 29
At leisure to explore the beautiful city of Cape Town.
