This private tour visits Sweetwaters chimpanzee sanctuary, before crossing the equator to explore the wildlife & culture of northern Kenya in Samburu National Park. Head south again to Aberdare, where Queen Elizabeth learned she was queen, and Lake Nakuru, before exploring the open plains of the famous Masai Mara. Ideal for photos & birding. Less 10% for 4+ pax.

Day 1
You will be met at Nairobi Airport by your guide and travel 3-hours to Sweetwaters near Mount Kenya.
 
Located just south of the equator, Mount Kenya is an extinct shield volcano. It is the highest mountain in Kenya and second only to Kilimanjaro in Africa. Mount Kenya National Park has been declared a World Heritage site because of its sensitive flora and fauna.
 
We visit the Chimpanzee Sanctuary to see the work they are doing with displaced chimps, before checking into our lodge.
Day 2
We continue northwards from Sweetwaters for 3-hours, as we drive to Samburu National Reserve.
 
We cross the equator at Nanyuki and check in to your lodge. Relax amongst the dramatic arid landscapes of the Great Rift Valley, before setting out for a game drive in the late afternoon in this wonderful wildlife wilderness.
Day 3
Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives today in Samburu National Reserve, one of the two reserves in which conservationists Joy and George Adamson raised Elsa the lioness, made famous in the book and award winning movie "Born Free".
 
Situated in the hot and arid northern region of Kenya, this reserve is located within the tribal lands of the colorful and semi-nomadic Samburu people, who are close relatives of the Maasai. The reserve is home to a variety of wildlife found only north of the equator - including the strange gerenuk, which stands upright on its spindly hind legs to browse from trees, the large Grevy's zebra, the reticulated giraffe and beisa oryx.
 
Crocodiles and hippo can be found in the broad Ewaso Ngiro River that runs through the park, as well as large herds of elephants and buffalo along its banks. You can also hope to see lion, cheetah, Grants gazelle, the small dik dik and waterbuck, as well as Somali ostrich and over 350 different bird species. By arrangement with your lodge, it is also possible to visit a local Samburu village.
Day 4
We leave Samburu today and travel southwards for 4-hours to Aberdare National Park.
 
Aberdare National Park is a wonderful wildlife wilderness area that offers unique flora and fauna not found elsewhere in Kenya. This beautiful park forms part of the Aberdare Mountain Range and stretches over a wide variety of terrains with its mountains and valleys varying in altitude from 7,000 to 14,000 feet above sea level with streams, rivers, waterfalls, bamboo and rain forests.
 
After checking in to your lodge, enjoy superb game viewing from the deck - including elephant, buffalo, lion and rhino which drink at the waterhole. Night viewing is also excellent.
Day 5
Today we travel 4-hours to the Masai Mara National Park, named after the Masai people and the Mara River which divides the park.
 
Masai Mara National Park is famous for its exceptional population of game and the annual migration of zebra and wildebeest from the adjoining Serengeti National Park. This phenomenon occurs every year from July to October, when game migrates along a circular route from the plains of the Serengeti to the Masai Mara and back again in search of fresh pastures, followed by hungry predators - most notably lions and hyena.
 
After checking in to your lodge, enjoy a late afternoon game drive in this magnificent wildlife sanctuary.
Day 6
Today is dedicated to game viewing on the open plains of the world famous Masai Mara National Park.
 
Nestled within the enormous Great Rift Valley, Masai Mara National Park is famous for its many prides of lions, packs of hyena and other predators - as well as huge herds of wildebeest, which number over one million, zebra and giraffe. All the Big Five can be seen here, as well as numerous other species including the Thomson's gazelle, topi, kongoni, impala, roan antelope and hippo. The nocturnal bat-eared fox, rarely found elsewhere in Kenya, also inhabits this park as well as the endangered cheetah and black rhino. Bird watching is also excellent with over 450 different species including the vulture, marabou stork, secretary bird, hornbill, crowned crane, ostrich, long-crested eagle and african pygmy-falcon.
 
Set off early each morning, when game viewing conditions are at their best, to view the abundant wildlife of the Masai Mara region. Return to the lodge to rest in the heat of the day, before setting off again in the late afternoon for another game drive.
Day 7
Time permitting enjoy some final game viewing in the Masai Mara this morning, before your 5-hour transfer to Nairobi Airport for your flight home.
