Enjoy this active escorted small group tour to the southern & central Drakensberg Mountains, including a spectacular 4x4 ascent up Sani Pass into Lesotho and walking at Giants Castle. Complete your holiday relaxing on the warm Indian Ocean beaches of the Durban North Coast. Tour departs from Durban every Monday, subject to a minimum of 2. No children < 8.

Day 1
You will be met at Durban Airport and transferred 30-minutes to your hotel on the North Coast of KwaZulu Natal, renowned for its wonderful beaches and reliably warm holiday weather all year round.
  
Check in, settle in and relax on the shores of the warm Indian Ocean.
Day 2
We leave Durban early this morning and travel inland through the scenic Natal Midlands to the village of Underberg in the foothills of the majestic Drakensberg Mountains.
 
Here we transfer to a 4x4 vehicle for the steep ascent up the Sani Pass - the highest mountain pass in Southern Africa with spectacular views. We cross the border into the small kingdom of Lesotho (passport required & light jacket recommended) and visit a Sotho tribal village where we interact with the locals, before enjoying an included lunch at the highest pub in Africa. We decend down the pass and check into our Drakensberg hotel.
Day 3
After a morning at leisure, today we transfer via the Midlands Meander route to Giants Castle in the central Drakensberg Mountains.
 
Check in and relax in this wonderful region that has been designated a World Heritage site because of its natural beauty and huge collection of Bushman Rock Art Paintings.
Day 4
After breakfast  we set off on a leisurely 2 mile (3 km) hike to view some ancient Bushman Rock Paintings (average level of fitness required).
 
Balance of day at leisure to enjoy relaxing or walking in the mountains.
Day 5
Enjoy the beauty of the Natal Midlands on your 3-hours transfer to your hotel on the Durban North Coast, renowned for its wonderful beaches and reliably warm holiday weather all year round.
 
Check into your hotel and relax in lush sub-tropical surroundings on the shores of the warm Indian Ocean.
Day 6
Today we recommend an optional Durban City tour, including the City Hall and Botanical Gardens.
 
We recommend continuing to uShaka Marine World situated in the old harbour area that is being extensively re-developed. Here you have the opportunity of viewing large indigenous sharks of the Indian Ocean and a wide variety of other marine animals, including the opportunity to interact with dolphins, seals and penguins (pay entrance fee locally).
Day 7
At leisure to relax on the warm golden beaches of the KwaZulu Natal Durban North Coast.
 
Many optional activities are available such a Durban City tour, a visit to Ushaka Marine World, or a marine cruise to search for dolphins, turtles, sharks, whales (in season) and other fascinating sea life. Championship golf, horse riding, quad biking and deep sea game fishing is also available.
Day 8
Transfer 30-minutes to Durban Airport for your flight home.
