Print Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive Mpumalanga Airport, collect your hire car and drive 1-hour to the scenic Panorama Route.

Check in to your hotel for overnight.

Meal Plan: BB

Day 2

Blyde river canyonToday explore the splendour of the Drakensberg Panorama Route as you drive 2-hours through the green Blyde River Canyon, the third largest in the world. Enjoy the panoramic views from God’s Window.

Other places of interest along the route include Mac Mac Falls, Bourke’s Luck Potholes and the historic mining village of Pilgrim’s Rest, before returning to your hotel.

Meal Plan: BB

Day 3

Today enter the world famous Kruger National Park (gate fees for own account). Game viewing opportunities should present themselves almost immediately in this vast 2-million hectare game sanctuary the size of Wales. Hopefully see several species of antelope, zebra, wildebeest and maybe even giraffe before you reach your rest camp.

The Kruger National Park has seven rest camps, each situated in a different section of the park with its own unique flora and fauna - Skukuza, Letaba, Olifants, Lower Sabie, Pretoriuskop, Satara and Berg-en-Dal. Accommodation is in simple but comfortable thatched game park bungalows on a bed only basis, with each camp having a restaurant and a small shop. Check in, settle in and relax in the atmosphere that only the African bushveld can provide!

Meal Plan: SC

Days 4 - 5

OxpeckersToday is devoted to self drive game viewing in the Kruger National Park. We recommend setting off early each morning as the camp gates open (05h30 to 06h00 depending on the season), to take advantage of the best game viewing conditions of the day.

Explore the famous Kruger National Park, a vast 2-million hectare game sanctuary the size of Wales which offer magnificent game viewing opportunities and the highest concentration of lion in the whole of Africa. Hope to see several of the Big Five today - Lion, Elephant, Buffalo, Leopard and Rhino - as well as many other species before returning to camp for breakfast (or buy provisions at camp and cook breakfast at a picnic spot such as Tshokwane).

The rest of the morning is free to relax by the swimming pool or enjoy bird watching at camp, before setting out again at the time of your choice (usually the late afternoon) for another game drive. With nearly 150 different species of mammals and over 100 species of reptiles in the Kruger National Park, you can hope to see cheetah, giraffe, hippo, kudu, crocodiles, sable antelope, waterbuck, warthogs, baboons, wild dogs and many other interesting animals. With over 500 different bird species including eagles, kingfishers, vultures and storks, outstanding bird watching is also guaranteed.

After a beautiful African sunset, enjoy the balmy evening and pristine stars of the Milky Way as you have never seen them before – as well as the spectacular Southern Cross.

Meal Plan: SC

Day 6

CrocodileThis morning commence the adventurous journey north-east to Parque Nacional do Limpopo in Mozambique, crossing both the Olifants and Letaba Rivers on roads best suited to 4x4 vehicles.

You will be game viewing all day as you drive to the border post at Giriyondo and enter the 1.1 million hectare Mozambique sector of the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park. Follow the gravel road and check in to your luxury en-suite tents, nestled in the trees on the banks of the Machampane River in an unspoilt wilderness area, before enjoying dinner under the stars.

Meal Plan: FB

Day 7

Today relax and enjoy the birds and wildlife of the Parc Nacional do Limpopo in Mozambique which, together with the Kruger National Park in South Africa and Gonarezhou National Park in Zimbabwe, makes up the enormous Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park.

Proclaimed a national park as recently as 2001, international conservation efforts are focussed on re-building the formerly heavily poached wildlife of Mozambique in this remote wilderness area. Enjoy walking along the banks of the Machampane River and bird watching from your rest camp.

Meal Plan: FB

Day 8

beach at Xai XaiWake to the bird calls and absorb the peaceful setting as the sun rises in this amazing wilderness area, before setting off from Parc Nacional do Limpopo on your cross country journey to Xai Xai on the Mozambique coast, on roads best suited to 4 x4 vehicles.

Enjoy the scenery of rural Mozambique, before arriving at the pristine beaches which stretch endlessly along the splendid Indian Ocean coastline. Check into your hotel in the vicinity of Xai Xai

Meal Plan: HB

Day 9

Today drive northwards from Xai Xai along the beautiful Mozambique coast to Inhambane.

Check into your hotel, settle in and relax on the pristine beaches in your unspoilt subtropical surroundings.

Meal Plan: BB

Days 10 - 12

Enjoy lazy days swimming in the warm blue waters of the Indian Ocean and sunbathing on the endless golden beaches.

Mozambique SunsetFacilities vary by resort, but usually include windsurfing, kite flying, ocean ski paddling and catamaran sailing. Also enjoy long walks along the beach and enjoy the prolific bird life (over 100 different species, including flamingos and pelicans).

Snorkelling is available off the nearby Mozambique Reef and scuba divers can explore this pristine reef off Tofu Beach, famous for encounters with gigantic whale shark and mantas.

Fishermen can try their hand at exhilarating deep sea game fishing, in waters considered to be the best for Marlin in the world.
