Print Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive Cape Town Airport and meet your fishing holiday host, who will transfer you to your luxury hotel conveniently situated near the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. Check in and relax in your magnificent surroundings.

Day 2

Marlin FishingRise early this morning for your 05h00 transfer to the small fishing harbour of Hout Bay for a full day of Deep Sea Game Fishing, between 20 and 40 nautical miles out to sea

The warm waters of the Indian Ocean meet the cold waters of the Atlantic Ocean off beautiful Cape Point creating ideal conditions for game fishing from October to May, as large shoals of game fish gather in the warmer currents to feed off the abundant pilchards, anchovies and saury.

Expect to catch Yellowfin and Big Eye Tuna (65-220 lbs / 30-100 kg) and Albacore/ Longfin Tuna (20-65 lbs / 8-30 kg). Also Swordfish, Dorado, the fighting Mako Shark and the occasional Wahoo, Spearfish and blue or striped Marlin.

The shallower warmer waters of Cape Point and False Bay are also home to shoals of hard fighting southern Yellowtail (5-90 lbs / 2-40 kg), which are great sport for the light tackle or fly enthusiast.

All tackle and bait will be provided by your skipper, who will make recommendations based on local conditions. After a thrilling 8 hours at sea, return to shore with return transfer to your hotel.

[No Tuna fishing is available in July and August]

Day 3

Victoria and Albert waterfrontToday is free for independent sightseeing in Cape Town.

You will be given a day pass for the convenient red Hop-On Hop-Off Bus, which stops at all Cape Town’s key sights and beaches. Start by ascending Table Mountain by cable car to enjoy one of the world’s most famous views.

Continue to Camps Bay beach and then explore the shops and many other attractions of the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, which is also the centre of Cape Town’s nightlife.

Day 4

Enjoy another full day of Deep Sea Game Fishing for Tuna.

Alternatively choose a day of inshore fishing in False Bay or around Cape Point or along the Atlantic Seaboard, with each area offering different species year-round.

In False Bay you will find Kabeljou (up to 65 lbs / 30 kg), Cape Salmon/Geelbek (26 lbs / 12 kg), white and red Stumpnose, Roman, Elf / Shad, Mackeral, Maasbanker, Sharks, Skates and the occasional white Steenbras.

Off Cape Point and along the Atlantic Coast you will find Roman, Silverfish, Panga, Hottentot, Fransmadam, Steentjies, Hake, Jakopever and the occasional Galjoen.

Crayfishing is also available in season (mid November to April).

Camps Bay beachDay 5

Another day of leisure in the beautiful city of Cape Town.

Choose one of the many optional excursions available such as a tour of the Winelands or Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. Take the ferry to Robben Island, the infamous prison home of Nelson Mandela or simply relax on golden Camp’s Bay beach – the choice is yours!

Day 6

Return transfer to Cape Town Airport for your 2-hour flight to Johannesburg.

You will be met at Johannesburg Airport and transferred to the beautiful malaria-free Pilanesberg Game Reserve, a 2-hour drive through the rural North West Transvaal.

After checking into your luxury game lodge, in the afternoon enjoy your first game drive in an open-top game viewing vehicle in this superb Big Five game reserve, which is uniquely situated inside an extinct volcano. Hopefully see elephants, lions, antelope and a wide variety of other game, before enjoy dinner in your warm African surroundings.

Day 7

Elephant at SDunsetUp early this morning, when viewing conditions are at their best, for another open-top game drive in the Pilanesberg Game Reserve. We hope to see more of the Big Five today: lion, buffalo, rhino, elephant and leopard – as well as giraffe, wildebeest, crocodiles, hippos, antelope and many other interesting species, before returning to the lodge for breakfast.

The rest of the day is at leisure. Visit the neighbouring gaming resort of Sun City, or relax beside the lodge swimming pool and visit the viewing hide.
