Day 1
You will be met at Nairobi Airport and transferred to your hotel in this bustling city.

Check in and relax in your warm and friendly African surroundings.

Day 2
After an early morning safari briefing, we leave Nairobi and drive 4-hours in a 4x4 safari jeep (with pop-up roof for game viewing), travelling through picturesque farms and coffee plantations to Nyeri, where we stop for an included lunch. Afterwards you will be transferred 10-miles (16 km) into the forests of Aberdare National Park.

This beautiful park forms part of the Aberdare Mountain Range and offers some unique flora and fauna, including the second largest population of black rhino in Kenya. It stretches over a wide variety of terrains, with its mountains and valleys varying in altitude from 7,000 to 14,000 feet. It has many streams, rivers, bamboo and rainforests. This park was where Queen Elizabeth II was staying on a royal tour when she heard that her father, King George VI, had died and that she was to become queen.

After checking in to your lodge, enjoy superb game viewing from the deck - where you can hope to see elephant, buffalo, lion, hyena or rhino drinking at the waterhole, as well as bushbuck, suni, monkeys, baboons, genets and giant forest hogs. Night viewing is also excellent.

Bird watching is also outstanding, with over 250 recorded species including the Crowned hornbill, Silvery-cheeked hornbill, Hartlaub's turako, Mountain greenbul, White-starred robin, Mountain yellow warbler, Grey-headed negrofinch, Northern double-collared sunbird, Golden-winged sunbird, Hunter's cisticola, Pale flycatcher, migratory Tree Pipit, Purple-throated cuckoo shrike, Olive thrush, Spectacled weaver and Cinnamon-breasted bee-eater amongst others.

Note: Due to limited space in the vehicle, rigid suitcases are not suitable. Luggage needs to be packed in soft side bags (sports bags are ideal) not exceeding 15 kg and 65 x 46 cm. Excess baggage can be left with our representative in Nairobi. On escorted group tours please note that for operational reasons it is sometimes necessary to substitute one hotel with another of similar quality.
Day 3
Today we leave Aberdare and travel 4-hours to Lake Nakuru in the heart of the Great Rift Valley.

A soda lake on the floor of the Rift Valley, at certain times of the year Lake Nakuru National Park is home to huge throngs of pelicans and over 400 different bird species, including the Greater (white) and Lesser (pink) flamingo. The lake is also a haven for certain endangered species including the Rothschild giraffe and black and white rhino.

In the afternoon enjoy a short game drive around the lake.
Day 4
A full day on the road today as we travel 5-hours from Lake Nakuru to the Masai Mara National Park, named after the Maasai people and the Mara River which divides the park.

We drive past Maai Mahiu and down to the vast plains on the floor of the Rift Valley, keeping an eye out for herds of giraffe and gazelle. From Narok, the district headquarters of this part of Maasailand, we traverse the "breadbasket" of Kenya, where acres of wheat and barley cover the landscape, as we travel towards the Masai Mara.

Masai Mara National Park is famous for its exceptional population of game and the annual migration of zebra and wildebeest from the adjoining Serengeti National Park. This phenomenon occurs every year from July to October, when game migrates along a circular route from the plains of the Serengeti to the Masai Mara and back again in search of fresh pastures, followed by hungry predators - most notably lions and hyena. Check into your lodge and enjoy game viewing in this magnificent wildlife sanctuary.
Day 5
Today is dedicated to game viewing on the open plains of the world famous Masai Mara National Park.

We set off early each morning, when game viewing conditions are at their best, to view the abundant wildlife of this region. Return to the lodge to rest in the heat of the day, before setting off again in the late afternoon for another game drive.

Nestled within the enormous Great Rift Valley, the Masai Mara is famous for its many prides of lions, packs of hyena and other predators - as well as huge herds of wildebeest, which number over one million, zebra and giraffe. All the Big Five can be seen here, as well as numerous other species including the Thomson's gazelle, topi, kongoni, impala, roan antelope and hippo. The nocturnal bat-eared fox, rarely found elsewhere in Kenya, also inhabits this park as well as the endangered cheetah and black rhino.

Bird watching is also excellent with over 450 different species. These include the Marabou stork, Secretary bird, Crowned crane, Ostrich, African pygmy falcon, Brown snake eagle, Black-chested snake eagle, Bateleur, Martial eagle, African paradise flycatcher, Red-fronted & White-headed barbet, Black-faced go-away bird, Woodland kingfisher, Violet-backed starling, Black cuckoo-shrike and various species of larks, cisticolas, vultures, hornbills and so much more.

Note: Optional early morning Hot Air Balloon ride on request.
Day 6
We leave the Masai Mara this morning and travel 5-hours to Nairobi Airport for your onward flight, and where your tour ends.

You will be met at Mombasa Airport and transferred 2-hours along this beautiful coast to your hotel in Watamu.

Check in and relax in your warm tropical surroundings on the shores of the sparkling Indian Ocean.
Days 7 To 10
At leisure to relax and enjoy the white sands of extensive Watamu Beach on the warm east coast of Kenya, fringed with swaying coconut palm trees and the vibrant blooms of hibiscus, bougainvillea and frangipani.

The blue ocean waters of Watamu Marine Park host a wide variety of coral gardens, inhabited by multi-coloured fish such as angelfish, butterflyfish, triggerfish and surgeonfish - most easily seen snorkelling, scuba diving or by glass-bottomed boat. Humpback whales migrate from the Antarctic to breed in these warm waters between July and September.

Activities vary by resort but usually include a variety of water sports, snorkelling, deep sea game fishing and scuba diving, with 20 prime dive locations less than 35-minutes from town. Sightings can include sea turtles, dolphins, mantas, sharks and some of the ocean's huge fish, as well as invertebrates and numerous brilliantly coloured tropical fish swimming amongst the coral reefs.

You can take optional tours to the ancient Gede Ruins and the historic Old Town in Malindi. Bird watching tours are also available.

Note: Dive packages vary by hotel, so enquire when booking. The best time for both diving and deep sea fishing is from November to February. Most boats do not operate during May and June (the end of the rainy season, when the sea is very rough).
Day 11
Transfer 2-hours to Mombasa Airport for your flight home.
