Day 1
You will be met at East London Airport and transferred to your guest house in this small city, which has the only river port in South Africa.

Check in and relax in your friendly surroundings, where surplus baggage can be stored for the duration of your hike.
Day 2
At leisure to relax at your guest house or explore East London and its lovely beaches.
Day 3
You will be collected from your East London this morning and transferred 3-hours through the scenic rolling hills of the Transkei, the birth place of Nelson Mandela and is the cultural heart of the Xhosa nation.

We stop along the way for lunch at a historic rural hotel, before continuing along a bumpy gravel section of road to Qora River Mouth. This is the starting point for your spectacular Wild Coast hike - a 30-mile (48-km) trail that meanders from one family-owned seaside hotel to another, covering splendidly wild terrain and beaches that are totally undeveloped, accompanied by local Xhosa guides. You need to be moderately fit to undertake this 6-day hike, which is over relatively easy terrain. Your bags will be transferred by vehicle to your next hotel each day, so you only need to carry a small daypack with you.

On arrival register for your hike at your hotel, splendidly situated on the shores of the Indian Ocean. Tide permitting, there is the option of canoeing on the Qora River (pay locally), with excellent birding opportunities. In the evening relax at the pub splendidly located on the rocks.
Day 4
After breakfast, you can enjoy a leisurely walk along a forest trail by the river.

You can then have lunch at Kob Inn before setting out on the first day of your guided hike, walking 4-miles (6-km) to Mazeppa Bay. Alternatively you can request a packed picnic lunch and set out a little earlier, with swimming opportunities along the way.

Along the way your guide will imparts snippets of information about the area, Xhosa customs and culture  whilst the wildness of the coastline - its precipitous cliffs, rolling grasslands and myriad waterfalls - works its magic. Tiny villages with thatched and brightly painted huts are set atop hills, and cows on the water's edge are the only signs of life. For the most part, it is you and the rugged scenery

On arrival at Mazeppa Bay check into your hotel. Here there is a lovely forest walk. There is also a small island you can visit by crossing a suspension bridge from the mainland.
Day 5
After an early breakfast, today we leave Mazeppa Bay and walk 13-miles (22-km) to Wavecrest.

This is the longest day of our hike with our route taking us along grassy banks adjacent to the coastline, with many natural springs and long sandy beaches fringed with palms and indigenous trees. Although the route is long, the terrain is flat.

We arrive at Wavecrest in the afternoon, where there is the option of a boat ride up the Nxaxo River. You can also canoe up the river to view some of the magnificent bird life found here (pay locally).

Note: Extra days can be added at this resort.
Day 6
Today we walk 9-miles (14-km) including crossing the Qobonqaba River - either wading or, if water levels are too high, then by canoe.

Around lunchtime enjoy a picnic lunch and swim at the shipwreck of the Jacaranda, the grounding of which is shrouded in controversy.

We then continue to Trennery’s Hotel on the Qolora River.
Day 7
After an early breakfast, there there is the option of a boat ride up the Qolora River to its scenic 'gates' - where the river narrows and passes through a steep gorge (pay locally).

We then continue our hike, walking for 4-miles (6-km) along the beach to Kei Mouth. After crossing the Kei River by pontoon, the landscape changes quite dramatically. We walk past the village of Kei Mouth and climb to the lighthouse, before returning to the beach for the last stretch to Morgan Bay - where you can relax at the end of your hike.

Note: Extra days can be added at this resort.
Day 8
At leisure to relax and enjoy the facilities of your hotel on the Wild Coast.
Day 9
This morning transfer 1.5-hours from Morgans Bay back to East London.

Check into your guest house and relax after your amazing Wild Coast adventure.
Day 10
Today transfer 4-hours from East London to your malaria-free private game reserve near Addo in the beautiful Eastern Cape.

Along the way we pass through the historic university town of Grahamstown. Known as the “City of Churches”, it is home to several famous public schools and Rhodes University.

After checking in to your safari lodge, enjoy an afternoon game drive where game viewing opportunities should present themselves almost immediately. Hopefully see several species of antelope, zebra, wildebeest and maybe even giraffe today - as well as several of the Big Five - before dining in your warm African surroundings.

Note: Ensure you arrive at your lodge in good time (preferably by 2.30 pm latest) so you do not miss your afternoon game drive.
Day 11
After some final game viewing in Addo Elephant Park, transfer 1-hour to your malaria-free private game reserve in the beautiful Eastern Cape.

After checking in to your lodge - which is home to all the Big Five - enjoy an afternoon game drive, before dining in your warm African surroundings.
Day 12
Rise at dawn to take advantage of the best game viewing conditions of the day and enjoy a thrilling open-top game viewing safari with your lodge ranger in your Private Game Reserve which is home to all the Big Five - Lion, Elephant, Buffalo, Leopard and Rhino. Hope to see many interesting species before returning to your lodge for breakfast.

The rest of the morning is free to relax by the lodge swimming pool, before setting out again in the late afternoon for another game drive. Hope to see giraffe, hippo, kudu, crocodiles, antelope, waterbuck, warthogs, baboons and many other interesting animals. With hundreds of different bird species, outstanding bird watching is also guaranteed!

After a beautiful African sunset, enjoy the balmy evening and pristine stars of the Milky Way as you have never seen them before – as well as the spectacular Southern Cross.

Note: If travelling with a child < 6 please request a family lodge that allows young children on open top game drives.
Day 13
Enjoy some final early morning game viewing, before your 2-hour transfer to Port Elizabeth Airport for your flight home.
