If you are ready to start planning you next holiday, our 'Book with Confidence' pledge has been created to give you peace of mind. For new bookings made before 30 June 2021, we will not charge if you need to move your holiday dates or change to a new destination due to Covid-19, up to 60 days prior to travel. You can move your holiday to any time up to 31 December 2022 or 12 months from your departure date, whichever is later*. If you are unsure of your future travel plans when you need to make this change, we will provide you with a 100% travel credit note.

We may need to adjust the cost of your trip to reflect any seasonal differences. Sometimes non-refundable deposits are required by local suppliers, which would be specified prior to booking. If you are unable to travel, we would secure a credit note for future travel from these suppliers, but you would not get a cash refund for these items. Flights that have already been issues will be subject to the rules of your airline & therefore may not be refundable or changeable. All other terms and conditions remain as standard.

South Africa
The famous Rovos Rail & Blue Train in South Africa both retain the enticing elegance of their eminent heritage, whilst offering all the latest in modern comforts and exquisite fine dining.
The wood panelled Rovos Rail holidays journey across Southern Africa at a leisurely pace. With historic Victorian Rhodesian Railways carriages and a traditional observation car, it provides a delightful way of viewing the unfolding landscapes travelling from Pretoria to Cape Town, Durban & Victoria Falls, with longer journeys to Namibia, Dar Es Salaam & Angola. The modern Blue Train travels at a faster pace, as you watch the breathtaking scenery from the comfort of your carriage. The Blue Train's main journey is from Pretoria to Cape Town, and vice versa. The train has a partially wheelchair accessible carriage, with a wheelchair specifically designed to pass through the narrow passageway, but some lifting is involved.
The Shongololo Express offers three longer journeys across Southern Africa, with comprehensive off-train sightseeing along the way:
- Good Hope: Pretoria to  Cape Town (15-days)
- Southern Cross: Pretoria To Victoria Falls (12-days)
- Dune Express: Pretoria to Namibia (12-days)

Two cabin options – Deluxe or Luxury
This is one of the most relaxing ways of travelling across South Africa. Simply order your gin and tonic at the Club Bar and chat to fellow travellers in the observation lounge, as the passing countryside unfolds.
Pretoria to Cape Town – 2 days
(Regular departures in both directions)
Travel through the goldfields of the Witwatersrand and the farmlands of the Free State to spectacular Cape Town. On the southbound journey, disembark at Kimberley to visit the famous Big Hole and Open Mine Museum. On the northbound journey, disembark at the Victorian village at Matjiesfontein. Savour some of the best scenery in South Africa, as you travel through the dramatic Du Toits Kloof Pass and the Cape Winelands to Cape Town.
Three cabin options - Pullman, Deluxe or Royal
Staff will cater for your every need as you enjoy superb service and delicious food and wine on Rovos Rail – everything from cocktails and formal dinners, to mouth-watering afternoon teas. Dress code is formal in the evenings, which adds a touch of panache.
Pretoria to Cape Town – 3 days

Travel nearly 1,000 miles through the gold rich Highveld, the haunting scenery of the Great Karoo, spectacular mountains and vineyards to scenic Cape Town. Disembark from Rovos Rail at Kimberley to visit to the Diamond Mine Museum and the world’s largest man-made excavation, the Big Hole. Also disembark at the preserved Victorian village of Matjiesfontein, before savouring your first view of Table Mountain on arrival in Cape Town.
Pretoria to Victoria Falls – 4 days
(Regular departures in both directions)
Travel through the goldfields of the Witwatersrand, the rolling Magaliesberg Mountains and Mafikeng, northwards to Gaborone in Botswana. Cross the Tropic of Capricorn and travel on Rovos Rail through Mahalapye and Serule to the Zimbabwean border at Plumtree. Disembark at Hwange National Park for a thrilling game drive, before arriving at the journeys end – the incomparable Victoria Falls.
Pretoria to Durban – 3 days
(Jan to April & Sept to Nov: regular departures in both directions)
Travel through the farmlands of the Free State and rolling hills of KwaZulu Natal. Disembark from Rovos Rail for a big-five game drive at Nambiti Game Reserve and a tour of the historic Spioenkop battlefield, with an equestrian display at Ardmore Ceramics. Continue through the Valley of a Thousand Hills to Durban, set on the shores of the warm Indian Ocean.
South Africa to Namibia – 9 days

Travel across the vast Kalahari to the spectacular deserts and canyons of Namibia, disembarking from Rovos Rail for sightseeing in Kimberley, Upington and the Fish River Canyon. Fly from Windhoek to see the sand dunes at Sossusvlei in the Namib Desert, before re-joining the Rovos Rail train to Etosha National Park and Swakopmund.

Disembark at the magnificent Victoria Falls, before continuing through Zimbabwe and Botswana. Enjoy two nights at a big-five game lodge in Madikwe before continuing through South Africa to Cape Town.
Dar Es Salaam to Angola
