Camping safari holidays allow you to experience the sights and sounds of the African bushveld up close, by camping right in the heart of it. Enjoy meals cooked over an open campfire and sleeping under canvas, with the incredible stars of the southern sky overhead.
Southern Africa
In Botswana we offer two levels of escorted camping safari holidays, travelling in a small group with a guide and support staff - i.e from simple 2-man dome tents with camp beds and bedrolls, to more luxurious Meru-style tents with real beds, en-suite portable toilet and warm bucket showers, all erected by experienced crew. These trips typically explore the Okavango Delta, before travelling via the Savuti Plains and Chobe National Park to the mighty Victoria Falls. Tours run on fixed dates, or you can book your own on a private basis, which is ideal for a family group.
If you only want to spend a few nights under canvas, then consider combining a stay at a luxury lodge with fly camping. This works well for those who want to explore on foot or by canoe, accompanied by an armed ranger. Your camp will be set up for you and, although facilities will be simple, you will be well looked after with sundowners on arrival at camp and delicious meals cooked over an open fire.
Zambia also offers great fly camps in the South Luangwa Valley and Lower Zambezi, whilst Zimbabwe offers overnight canoe trails upstream from Victoria Falls.
East Africa
In Kenya and Tanzania mobile camping safaris are usually done on a private basis, with 2-man dome tents the norm. This will allow you to explore the incredible wildlife of the famous Masai Mara and Serengeti, as well as places such as Laikipia, with your own guide and support staff. Please note that in the national parks you will have shared campsite ablutions, which can be rather basic at times. Fly camps combined with luxury lodge stays can also be arranged.
