Kalahari has a very hot, semi-desert climate.
Augrabies Falls is in flood from February to April, but the best time to visit the Kalahari for game viewing is May to September (winter) when the days are hot and dry, but evenings very cold with ground frost. October to April (summer) is extremely hot, with erratic rainfall.
The wildflowers of Namaqualand bloom mid-August to mid-September, depending on the quality and timing of the rains.
Birding is best from November to March (the hot summer) when the migrants visit.
