There are also hotels with good beaches near the entrance to Tayrona National Park. This area was once the home of the Tayrona tribe and you can visit the ruins of one of their principle settlements at Pueblo, where 500 dwellings have been uncovered. These suggest a pre-Spanish population of over 4,000 people, so a major urban centre. Their culture and traditions have been maintained by the indigenous population that include the Koguis, their direct descendants.
