When to go to West Bengal + Andamans

West Bengal has a hot and humid subtropical climate, except for the hill country of Darjeeling in the north which is much cooler.

The best time to visit West Bengal, Calcutta, Darjeeling, Sundarbans & Andaman Islands is from November (when Kaziranga opens) to March (i.e. winter) to avoid the extreme heat of midsummer and the monsoon rains which fall from June to September, when most national parks are closed.

Wildlife viewing is best at the end of the dry season (March and April), when animals search out the waterholes and lakes.

Birding is best from October to early April.
