When to go to Varanasi + Khajuraho

Central India has a hot subtropical climate, with a large variation between summer and winter temperatures.
 
The best time to visit Varanasi & Khajuraho is from October to March (winter) to avoid the extreme heat of midsummer and the monsoon rains which fall from June to September, when most national parks are closed.
 
Wildlife viewing is best at the end of the dry season (March and April), when animals search out the waterholes and lakes.
 
Birding is best from October to early April.
